Initial Submission
Upon first submission of an article, the Editor-in-Chief and members of the editorial board will assess its suitability for publication in PPS and will check for word length and completeness. A manuscript might be rejected at this stage. Where the work is considered suitable in principle, it will be assigned one editor to further guide you through the process and sent to a minimum of two peer reviewers. See peer review process for more information about this stage.
Copy-editing
After the text has been revised following comments from peer-reviewers, the assigned Editor will copy-edit the text. The text will be edited for clarity of expression, syntax, grammar, and consistency. Any queries will be returned to the author. The images will be checked for size and resolution and any problems notified.
Final Submission and Editorial Procedure
Once a paper has been copy-edited, the author will be asked to submit the final agreed draft accompanied by high resolution images (as well as captions and any supplementary information) via digital file transfer, using ScholarOne. Full instructions will be provided; please do not submit using ScholarOne until told to do so by an Editor. All ‘final’ articles are dealt with on a first-come-first-served basis and the Editors will not guarantee to make space available in any specific issue.Funding open access
Multiple funding routes are available for Gold Open Access articles. Please see this journal's open access options for details.
Author Information Form
After acceptance you will receive an email from no-reply@cambridge.org inviting you to complete an Author Information Form. You will be required to confirm information relating to your article, which will be reflected in your final publication and in your digital publishing agreement, if applicable. Once you have completed the Author Information form and signed your publishing agreement, your article will proceed into production.
Production
Once an article has been accepted and the Author Information Form has been completed, the process of copyediting, typesetting, proofing, and publishing the article will begin.
Your point of contact with Cambridge University Press will be the content manager of the journal. For more information about how production works at Cambridge University Press, please see our information about our publication journey, which explains how an article goes from accepted manuscript to fully published. Note that there may be small variances in this process between journals. More information is available at our Journal Production FAQs.
Corrections
Changes cannot be made to articles once published either online in FirstView or as part of an issue. Any changes must be made via the standard process of issuing a correction notice. Please contact the Editorial Office and Content Manager for the journal if any error has been identified. The final decision on whether a correction notice should be published will be taken by the Publisher in consultation with the Editorial Team. For more information please refer to our FAQs.
