We study the local theta correspondence for dual pairs of the form $\mathrm {Aut}(C)\times F_{4}$ over a p-adic field, where C is a composition algebra of dimension $2$ or $4$, by restricting the minimal representation of a group of type E. We investigate this restriction through the computation of maximal parabolic Jacquet modules and the Fourier–Jacobi functor.

As a consequence of our results, we prove a multiplicity one result for the $\mathrm {Spin}(9)$-invariant linear functionals of irreducible representations of $F_{4}$ and classify the $\mathrm {Spin}(9)$-distinguished representations.

Rigid meromorphic cocycles are defined in the setting of orthogonal groups of arbitrary real signature and constructed in some instances via a p-adic analogue of Borcherds’ singular theta lift. The values of rigid meromorphic cocycles at special points of an associated p-adic symmetric space are then conjectured to belong to class fields of suitable global reflex fields, suggesting an eventual framework for explicit class field theory beyond the setting of CM fields explored in the treatise of Shimura and Taniyama.

We construct explicit generating series of arithmetic extensions of Kudla’s special divisors on integral models of unitary Shimura varieties over CM fields with arbitrary split levels and prove that they are modular forms valued in the arithmetic Chow groups. This provides a partial solution to Kudla’s modularity problem. The main ingredient in our construction is S. Zhang’s theory of admissible arithmetic divisors. The main ingredient in the proof is an arithmetic mixed Siegel-Weil formula.

The investigation of truncated theta series was popularized by Andrews and Merca. In this article, we establish an explicit expression with nonnegative coefficients for the bivariate truncated Jacobi triple product series:

which can be regarded as a companion to Wang and Yee’s truncation of the triple product identity. As applications, our result confirms a conjecture of Li, Lin, and Wang and implies a family of linear inequalities for a bi-parametric partition function. We also work on another truncated triple product series arising from the work of Xia, Yee, and Zhao and derive similar nonnegativity results and linear inequalities.

We give sharp point-wise bounds in the weight-aspect on fourth moments of modular forms on arithmetic hyperbolic surfaces associated to Eichler orders. Thereby, we strengthen a result of Xia and extend it to co-compact lattices. We realize this fourth moment by constructing a holomorphic theta kernel on $\mathbf {G} \times \mathbf {G} \times \mathbf {SL}_{2}$, for $\mathbf {G}$ an indefinite inner form of $\mathbf {SL}_2$ over $\mathbb {Q}$, based on the Bergman kernel, and considering its $L^2$-norm in the Weil variable. The constructed theta kernel further gives rise to new elementary theta series for integral quadratic forms of signature $(2,2)$.

We investigate the Gross–Prasad conjecture and its refinement for the Bessel periods in the case of $(\mathrm {SO}(5), \mathrm {SO}(2))$. In particular, by combining several theta correspondences, we prove the Ichino–Ikeda-type formula for any tempered irreducible cuspidal automorphic representation. As a corollary of our formula, we prove an explicit formula relating certain weighted averages of Fourier coefficients of holomorphic Siegel cusp forms of degree two, which are Hecke eigenforms, to central special values of $L$-functions. The formula is regarded as a natural generalization of the Böcherer conjecture to the non-trivial toroidal character case.

Let f be an $L^2$-normalized holomorphic newform of weight k on $\Gamma _0(N) \backslash \mathbb {H}$ with N squarefree or, more generally, on any hyperbolic surface $\Gamma \backslash \mathbb {H}$ attached to an Eichler order of squarefree level in an indefinite quaternion algebra over $\mathbb {Q}$. Denote by V the hyperbolic volume of said surface. We prove the sup-norm estimate

We establish analogous estimates in the setting of definite quaternion algebras.

In this paper, we investigate the twisted GGP conjecture for certain tempered representations using the theta correspondence and establish some special cases, namely when the L-parameter of the unitary group is the sum of conjugate-dual characters of the appropriate sign.

We prove the local Langlands conjecture for the exceptional group $G_2(F)$ where F is a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero.

A crucial ingredient in the theory of theta liftings of Kudla and Millson is the construction of a $q$-form $\varphi_{KM}$ on an orthogonal symmetric space, using Howe's differential operators. This form can be seen as a Thom form of a real oriented vector bundle. We show that the Kudla-Millson form can be recovered from a canonical construction of Mathai and Quillen. A similar result was obtaind by Garcia for signature $(2,q)$ in case the symmetric space is hermitian and we extend it to arbitrary signature.

We prove that the Jacquet–Langlands correspondence for cohomological automorphic forms on quaternionic Shimura varieties is realized by a Hodge class. Conditional on Kottwitz’s conjecture for Shimura varieties attached to unitary similitude groups, we also show that the image of this Hodge class in $\ell $-adic cohomology is Galois invariant for all $\ell $.

We use the theta correspondence to study the equivalence between Godement–Jacquet and Jacquet–Langlands L-functions for ${\mathrm {GL}}(2)$. We show that the resulting comparison is in fact an expression of an exotic symmetric monoidal structure on the category of ${\mathrm {GL}}(2)$-modules. Moreover, this enables us to construct an abelian category of abstractly automorphic representations, whose irreducible objects are the usual automorphic representations. We speculate that this category is a natural setting for the study of automorphic phenomena for ${\mathrm {GL}}(2)$, and demonstrate its basic properties.

In this paper, we compute the Fourier expansion of the Shintani lift of nearly holomorphic modular forms. As an application, we deduce modularity properties of generating series of cycle integrals of nearly holomorphic modular forms.

We use the method of Bruinier–Raum to show that symmetric formal Fourier–Jacobi series, in the cases of norm-Euclidean imaginary quadratic fields, are Hermitian modular forms. Consequently, combining a theorem of Yifeng Liu, we deduce Kudla’s conjecture on the modularity of generating series of special cycles of arbitrary codimension for unitary Shimura varieties defined in these cases.

In this note, we use Dedekind’s eta function to prove a congruence relation between the number of representations by binary quadratic forms of discriminant $-31$ and Fourier coefficients of a weight $16$ cusp form. Our result is analogous to the classical result concerning Ramanujan’s tau function and binary quadratic forms of discriminant $-23$.

Under the triple product formula, our result may be understood as a strong level aspect form of quantum ergodicity: for a large prime p, all but very few Hecke–Maass newforms on $\Gamma _0(p) \backslash \mathbb {H}$ of bounded eigenvalue have very uniformly distributed mass after pushforward to $\operatorname {\mathrm {SL}}_2(\mathbb {Z}) \backslash \mathbb {H}$.

We consider autocorrelation functions for supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems (consisting of a fermion and a boson) confined in trigonometric Pöschl–Teller partner potentials. We study the limit of rescaled autocorrelation functions (at random time) as the localization of the initial state goes to infinity. The limiting distribution can be described using pairs of Jacobi theta functions on a suitably defined homogeneous space, as a corollary of the work of Cellarosi and Marklof. A construction by Contreras-Astorga and Fernández provides large classes of Pöschl-Teller partner potentials to which our analysis applies.

In this paper, we decompose $\overline {D}(a,M)$ into modular and mock modular parts, so that it gives as a straightforward consequencethe celebrated results of Bringmann and Lovejoy on Maass forms. Let $\overline {p}(n)$ be the number of partitions of n and $\overline {N}(a,M,n)$ be the number of overpartitions of n with rank congruent to a modulo M. Motivated by Hickerson and Mortenson, we find and prove a general formula for Dyson’s ranks by considering the deviation of the ranks from the average:

In an earlier paper of Wee Teck Gan and Gordan Savin, the local Langlands correspondence for metaplectic groups over a nonarchimedean local field of characteristic zero was established. In this paper, we formulate and prove a local intertwining relation for metaplectic groups assuming the local intertwining relation for non-quasi-split odd special orthogonal groups.

We prove a functional equation for a vector valued real analytic Eisenstein series transforming with the Weil representation of $\operatorname{Sp}(n,\mathbb{Z})$ on $\mathbb{C}[(L^{\prime }/L)^{n}]$ . By relating such an Eisenstein series with a real analytic Jacobi Eisenstein series of degree $n$ , a functional equation for such an Eisenstein series is proved. Employing a doubling method for Jacobi forms of higher degree established by Arakawa, we transfer the aforementioned functional equation to a zeta function defined by the eigenvalues of a Jacobi eigenform. Finally, we obtain the analytic continuation and a functional equation of the standard $L$ -function attached to a Jacobi eigenform, which was already proved by Murase, however in a different way.
