Instructions for peer reviewers
Online peer review system
Journal of Black Language and Culture uses ScholarOne for online submission and peer review. ScholarOne is a “comprehensive workflow-management system for scholarly journals, books and conferences”.
Further information on ScholarOne can be found on the ScholarOne website, and queries about the peer review process can be directed to the Editors (jblac@lsadc.org).
Guidelines for reviewers
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Black Language and Culture (JBLAC) undergo a rigorous peer-review process. Submissions are evaluated by two external reviewers and an internal editor based on the criteria outlined in the guidelines for reviewers. Reviewers are selected for their expertise in subject areas pertinent to the submitted manuscript, ensuring a high standard of scholarly evaluation. The primary goals of the review process are to assess the manuscript's quality, validity, and relevance to the journal's readership, which includes teacher educators, educational researchers, faculty, graduate students, and other education professionals. You can find our full reviewer guidelines here.
We typically request that reviewers provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback within 4-6 weeks of receiving a manuscript. JBLAC maintains a commitment to publishing high-quality research in a timely manner, with the goal of making decisions on submissions within 3-6 months.
