In 2019 there were 1,760 patients in Denmark’s hospitals who experienced cardiac arrest (IHCA patients = In Hospital Cardiac Arrest patients). Of these patients about 70% survived. There is only limited knowledge about the mental and cognitive state of cardiac arrest survivors. However, it seems, that cardiac arrest survivors, perform mentally and cognitively worse compared to the background population. The mental and cognitive difficulties can lead to reduced quality of life for both those affected and their relatives.

Because the above-mentioned area has limited knowledge, further studies are needed to shed more light into the problem.

To find out if the patients can be included in the study, the patient journals will be studied. After that there will be performed an interview-survey-based study, in which IHCA patients’ possible symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD and suicide risk, the patients’ quality of life and any cognitive disorder, shortly after and three months after cardiac arrest, will be examined. The study will also, if possible, focus on the patients’ relatives and on the eventual difficulties they may experience in the aftermath of a relative surviving a cardiac arrest. The above-mentioned will be done using already existing relevant psychiatric and neuropsychological examination tools. In relation to the patients’ relatives, however, a separate survey tool, that has been developed, will be used.

It is an ongoing study. Results are expected in 2023.

In the long run the study hopefully can contribute to establishing relevant help, counseling and rehabilitation for the patients and relatives affected.

European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) is a platform for psychiatric trainees from not only Europe but also various other countries. EFPT exclusively works on binding clinical practice and science for better mental health care. Research Working Group (RWG) of EFPT works on sharing knowledge with peers by brainstorming, collaborating and coordinating projects, organizing journal clubs and workshops.

We will focus on tele-psychiatry also known as e-mental health, a subdivision of telemedicine, provides diagnostic interview, evaluation, therapies, psycho-education and treatment. We plan The Brain-Drain follow-up study, investigates immigration of psychiatric trainees. Also educational activities have planned.

With a questionnaire on the topic of psychiatry residents’ acceptance of tele-psychiatry using The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), we will hold the first multi-national survey among psychiatry residents. The Brain-Drain study was conducted by the EFPT-RWG in the past had a promising outcome. We are currently working on the follow-up of the study. We are starting to hold events. For instance we will commence the monthly journal club. Apart from giving a platform for scientific debate, journal club will also provide a chance have a elaborate discussion with author. We will organize a workshop on how to write a case-study with Neuro-Psycho-Pharmacology Working Group of EFPT.

We assume diverse attitudes overlapping different telepsychiatry exposure and regualtions, comprehensive data on immigration of trainees and sharing knowledge on practice and research.

Hopefully, we will have clearer understanding of changes in working environment of trainees either with new technologies or in different countries.

Resilience is the ability to bounce back or cope successfully with stress. Fostering resilience is a promising way to mitigate the negative effects of stressors and prevent burnout.

Study the level of resilience among Tunisian medical interns and residents.

We conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study between March 1 and April 15, 2021. Medical interns and residents were invited to complete an online self-questionnaire. We used the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) to assess the level of resilience.

The total number of participants was 56 of which 28.6% were male. The average age was 26.76±2.52 years. Most of the students had studied at the Faculty of Medicine in Sfax, 58.9%. 64.3% of the participants were residents, 55.4% of them in a medical specialty. 75% of participants were working in a medical department. The average years of practice was 2.27±1.23. The number of working hours per week exceeding 40 hours was found in 60.7% of participants. The number of shifts per month exceeding 4 shifts was found in 67.9%. 46.4% of the participants wanted to change their profession and 44.6% regretted choosing medicine. The mean score by BRS was 2.79±0.48. The level of resilience was high in 42.9% of the participants and normal in the rest of the respondents.

The level of resilience was normal to high in Tunisian medical interns and residents. Assessing the presence of burnout and the coping strategies used could provide insight into the quality of work life.

Treatment adherence, is defined as “the extent to which a person’s behavior — taking medication, following a diet, and/or executing lifestyle changes — corresponds with the agreed recommendations from a healthcare provider.” The course of patients with mental health is habitually chronic and based on an indefinite continuation of treatment to sustain remission and prevent relapses. Treatment adherence issues are the main obstacles in the management of these patients

The aim of the present study was to evaluate treatment adherence in patients with mental health and the demogrphic and clinical factors associated with it.

It was a cross-sectional study conduced at the department of Psychiatry A at Razi Hospital.The validated arabic version of Morisky-Green test was used to assess medication adherence. The patients were considered as adherent if they answered ‘No ’ to all questions

60 patients were included, with a sex ratio M / F of 0.47. Patients were treated for bipolar disorder type1 in 45% of cases, schizophrenia in 28.3% of cases, schizoaffective disorder in 10% of cases and depressive disorder in 6.7% of cases. 50% of included patients had Moderate level of adherence, 35% were considered as non- adherent and only 13.3% had high adherence. The reported reasons for treatment discontinuation were insight (50%), financial problems (26.9%), side effects (15.4%) and unavailability of drugs (7.7%). The Morisky-Green test score were not correlated neither to the nature of the psychiatric disorder nor to multiple medication.

We found a high proportion of nonadherence in patients with mental illness.

Unemployment is considered to be one of the most stressful life events that a person may experience. There are a plethora of studies that highlighted the negative effects of unemployment on people’s overall mental health and well-being. Yet, psychological resilience and self-compassion contribute positively in coping with stressful situations and seem to be particularly supportive mechanisms when one is confronted with unemployment.

This study intended to investigate the relationships between resilience, self-compassion and mental health in Greek unemployed people and the contribution of specific sociodemographic characteristics in this ‘equation’.

The study followed a survey design where a sample of 345 Greek unemployed participants completed an online questionnaire, examining the variables under study.

According to the findings, people who reported being unemployed for more than six months showed decreased levels of mental health. Also, the unemployed with higher levels of resilience and self-compassion reported statistically significant higher levels of mental health and vice versa. Finally, self-compassion and psychological resilience were found to be statistically positive related to each other and are predictive factors of mental health with which they are statistically negative related.

The results of this study may contribute to the implementation of interventions aiming at improving mental health and the overall well-being of people affected by long-term unemployment.

INTRODUCTION: Several studies have shown that the relationship between Diabetes and Depression is significant, but few have evaluated the relationship between this depression and patients’ social life.

OBJECTIVE: Exploring the friendships and social life of patients with type 2 diabetes with levels of depression.

METHODS: The sample consisted of 130 Greek patients with type 2 diabetes and a mean age of 63.28 (SD = 13.89), who completed the following questionnaires voluntarily and anonymously: a) Zung Depression Scale and b) socio-demographic and self-reported questionnaire for their past and present friendships.

RESULTS: Patients who had friends in the past scored lower depression rates (44.63 ± 11.53) than patients who did not have friends in the past (60.50 ± 6.36), with a statistically significant difference between them (p = 0.045), while patients who currently have friends scored lower depression rates (42.91 ± 10.86) than patients who do not currently have friends (58.81 ± 6.07), with a statistically very significant difference between them ( p = 0.000). Patients with type 2 diabetes who are not currently friends have higher levels of depression by 3.8 points compared to patients with type 2 diabetes who are currently friends.

CONCLUSIONS: Patients with diabetes mellitus with low levels of social life show statistically higher rates of depression and further study of this relationship is considered necessary.

The recovery of community-dwelling people diagnosed with mental illness is positively correlated with having their needs met; however, only a few person-centered services provide solutions that are tailored to the needs of such populations.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a needs-tailored recovery program.

A double-blind randomized controlled trial was used. In the experimental group, people diagnosed with mental illness received homecare services for six months as part of a new needs-tailored recovery program. The control group received existing community homecare services. Data were collected before and after the intervention (July 2020 to January 2021). The primary outcome was recovery, and secondary outcomes were needs, hope, empowerment, psychotic symptoms, and medication adherence.

The recovery program integrated the evidence-based care elements for community-dwelling people diagnosed with mental illness that we had identified: need satisfaction, hope, empowerment, and medication adherence. In total, 62 participants were included. There were no significant pre-test differences between the two groups in terms of demographic or baseline variables. However, there were significant differences between them in the extent of improvement in recovery, needs, hope, and empowerment, and medication adherence improved significantly but similarly in both groups.

Our person-centered recovery program fitted individuals’ needs and improved recovery and related elements for personal recovery among community-dwelling people diagnosed with mental illness. This study increases our understanding of recovery-oriented care to prioritize therapeutic alliance, integrated needs assessment, individualized unique goals, hope, and empowerment.

Burden among family caregivers of patients with mental illness can be mediated by resilience and perceived social support.

The present study aimed to explore the relationship between perceived social support and resilience levels among caregivers of patients with mental illness and to identify its associated factors.

This was a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study conducted on caregivers of patients followed in the outpatient psychiatry department at the university hospital of Sfax (Tunisia), during septembre 2021. Resilience was assessed with the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale and the social support with the social provisions scale. High scores indicate high resilience and support.

We have involved 34 family caregivers with an average age of 47.47 years(SD=12.4 years). The mean resilience score of caregivers was 42.85 and the mean social support score was 28.09(SD=5.54). The score of resilience correlated positively with the score of social support among family caregivers of patients (r= 0.76 ; p=0.0001). Furthermore, resilience and social support were significantly lower among caregivers with a history of chronic illness (p=0.0001 and 0.002 respectively). Regarding clinical factors, the scores of social support and resilience decreased significantly with the duration of providing care to patients (r=-0.60; p=0.0001 and r=-0.75; p=0.0001 respectively). Similarly, they decreased significantly with the number of hospitalizations of patients (r=-0.53; p=0.001 and r=-0.62; p=0.0001 respectively).

The findings suggests that high social support promotes better resilience among family caregivers of patients with mental illness. So, a better adjustement to the role of caregiver can be effectively achieved by improving the perceived social support.

A growing body of literature has documented that occupational stress is associated with increased risks of musculoskeletal injuries or symptoms.

The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of occupational stress on the occurrence of musculoskeletal symptoms among workers in a Tunisian footwear industry.

Material and methods: This was an exhaustive and cross-sectional study including workers in a footwear industry. Musculoskeletal symptoms were assessed using a modified Nordic questionnaire. We used the Job Demand/Control model of Karasek to measure occupational stress. The Quick Exposure Check (QEC) method was used as an ergonomic risk assessment tool. Data were analysed using R software.

A total of 337 workers participated in the survey (the age range: 18-60 years). A total of 83.7 of workers reported musculoskeletal symptoms at one site or more. Elbows and upper back were the most symptomatic sites in respectively 84% and 65%. We noted job-strain and iso-strain situations in respectively 57% and 32%. In 78.1% of the workers studied, the QEC score was high and very high in 21.9%. Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression model showed that iso-strain situation was associated with the number of symptomatic sites (p= 0.0003, OR=1.34), having musculoskeletal symptoms in elbows (p= 0.03, OR=2.33) and upper back (p=0.009, OR=2.40), and the final QEC score (p= 0.018, OR= 1.04).

Occupational stress constitutes a significant risk for this leather industry. It is associated with a higher prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in the workplace and with work-related biomechanical exposure.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown how quickly and drastically everyday life can change in extreme situations.

To investigate how external factors can affect human health – mentally and physically – and what indicators herald the proximity to a critical upheaval.

Using theories from theoretical physics and psychology, researchers from Heidelberg University and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology will observe emotional reaction via an ‘infinitesimal stimulus’ (f) to an image that gives the ‘infinitesimal displacement’ (d). While both the stimulus and the reaction are chosen to be small – and hence keep a person well within their emotional stability – the ratio (d/f) provides us a quantitative measure of the individual’s susceptibility i.e. reaction sensitivity. Over a six-month phase, we hope to correlate the individual susceptibility with the person’s general emotional state and to define a threshold reaction to indicate a person’s proximity to an emotional instability. Semi-structured interviews of extreme cases give us further insight into correlations between emotional states and susceptibility.

If an increased susceptibility in an individual actually precedes a long-term change in mood, then regular susceptibility measurements can be used, for instance, to detect depression at an early stage. We are particularly curious to observe the extent to which models from physics can be applied to society and the individual.

The final output is to integrate practical implementation aspects into the medical curricula in a transdisciplinary manner. If possible, a formula for understanding health stability should be formulated that would be highly innovative for the medical field.

Existing research has seldom examined patient safety problems experienced by service users accessing community mental healthcare, with the growing evidence base focusing largely on safety in psychiatric inpatient settings. Accordingly, there is poor understanding of safety issues in community-based mental health services as perceived by service users, carers, and healthcare professionals.

This study aims to explore safety problems in adult community-based mental health services, their causation, and priority areas for improving the safety of care provided in these services.

In-depth, semi-structured interviews and focus groups were conducted with users of community-based mental health services, carers, and healthcare professionals employed within these settings. Interview topic guides were designed jointly with stakeholders from these groups (N=7) and piloted (N=3). Interviews and focus groups will be transcribed, coded, and analysed using an inductive thematic analysis approach. Illustrative quotes will be extracted and used to describe the key themes that emerge from the analysis and their inter-relationships.

This presentation will provide an outline of patient safety as understood and experienced by key stakeholder groups. Study findings will explicate safety issues, healthcare system factors underpinning their causation, as well as practices which could improve safety in this context.

This research will help to advance understanding of the nature of patient safety problems in community-based mental healthcare services for adults, based on the experiences of service users, carers, and healthcare professionals within these services. The research will address key evidence gaps and represents an important step towards identifying areas which warrant intervention to improve patient safety.

In the modern era of instability the problems of human adaptive abilities and mental regulation have become more and more relevant. The study of the processes of mental regulation is impossible without understanding the role of the mental structures: reflection and self-system of personality.

The purpose of the research is to study the interaction and mutual influence of the components of the self-system and reflective structures on the process of mental regulation of students.

52 first year students were offered to complete questionnaires of reflectivity (M. Grant), of self-system (S. Pantileev), as well as the authors’ method of self-regulation effectiveness of mental states. Also we used Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient.

It is revealed the positive direction of the relationships between the reflection and the components of the self-system (p ≤ 0.05). Respondents with a high level of self-system are more successful in coping with the processes of mental regulation. The indicators of internal conflict lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of self-regulation (p ≤ 0.05). The ability of a person to evaluate himself and other people has a positive effect on the success of mental regulation (p ≤ 0.05). However, the excessive desire to reflect on past events is not conducive to self-regulation.

The Mental Health Home Care is a program whose main objective is to provide care to people with a Serious Mental Disorders with difficulties to maintain continuity of treatment and link between the different resources. It is a program that guarantees continuity of care and facilitates the link between the different rehabilitation resources. It carries out a multidisciplinary approach to the difficulties of the patient and the family.

Both analyze clinical, psychopathological and epidemiological characteristics of Serius Mental Disorders and review causes, incidence, prevalence, diagnostic, therapeutic tools and the importance of maintaining the treatment and rehabilitation in Serius Mental Disorders, because the abandonment of the treatment is a predictor of relapses.

Review of the impact literature for the last five years concerning Serius Mental Disorder: prevalence, incidence, pathogenesis and its relationship with other psychiatric disorders encoded in DSM-V.

The program is made up of a Psychiatrist, a Clinical Psychologist, a Mental Health Nurse and two Nursing Auxiliary Care, two Social Workers and two Occupational Therapists.The responsible professional presents the patient at the program meetings. The program’s multidisciplinary team proposes an individualized treatment plan for the patient and family in the patient’s environment.

The objective and areas of global intervention is to provide comprehensive psychiatric, psychological, social and rehabilitative support in patients with difficulty in linking to other resources, keeping the patient in a normalized community context, improving treatment compliance and making appropriate use of standardized mental health services.

The main scientific task of the study is at the intersection of two fundamental areas of psychology - self-regulation of human mental states and management of educational activities. In the context of these problems, we study the self-regulation of states in academic activities.

The purpose of the study is to show the patterns of mental organization of the person that ensure the regulation of states.

The theoretical basis of the study is the system approach. The typical methods and techniques of self-regulation of states, as well as the influence of mental structures on students’ self-regulation have been studied. To solve the problems, standardized psychological tests have been used (23 methods, 303 indicators). The research involved 206 students.

We have revealed the features of the relationship between the quality of students’ subject training, regulatory abilities and mental states. It indicates that the effectiveness of students’ mental states self-regulation significantly affects the productivity of the semester exam. It has been established the properties of the personality providing high efficiency of self-regulation (adequacy, awareness, independence and assertiveness). Students with high self-regulation efficiency use a wide range of regulatory means.

The study of the influence of the mental structures on self-regulation and regulatory abilities of students confirmed the hypothesis that characteristics of mental organization play the central role in the regulation of psychological states. The research has been carried out with the financial support of the RFBR, project No. 19-29-07072.

Patient safety problems stemming from healthcare represent a significant cause of morbidity and mortality globally. The evidence base on safety in mental healthcare, particularly regarding community-based mental health services, has long fallen behind that of physical healthcare, with fewer research publications, developed primarily in isolation from the wider improvement science discipline. This disconnect both yields, and stems from, conceptual and practical challenges which must be surmounted in order to advance the science and improvement of safety in mental healthcare.

The objectives of this research were to conduct a narrative review to provide an overview of conceptual issues in this area, their origins, and implications for patient safety science and clinical care. We also sought to identify approaches to overcoming these issues.

We examined theoretical and empirical evidence from the fields of patient safety, mental health, and improvement science to address this knowledge gap.

We identified challenges with defining safety in the context of community mental healthcare, ascertaining what constitutes a ‘preventable’ safety problem requiring intervention, and in finding relevant research evidence. The research indicated that risk management has taken precedence over proactive safety promotion in mental healthcare. This positions service users as the origin of safety risks, with iatrogenic harm and latent system hazards associated with mental healthcare widely overlooked.

We propose a broader conceptualisation of safety to advance the field and outline potential next steps for the integration and uptake of different sources of ‘safety intelligence’ within community mental health services.

Intensive home-treatment (IHT) for people experiencing a mental health crisis has been progressively established in many European countries as an alternative to in-ward treatment. However, the management of acute episodes at home can cause burden in the caregivers of these patients.

To create a brief group intervention (BGI) to reduce burden in the caregivers of the patients admitted to an IHT unit.

A preliminary version of the BGI (BGI 1.0) was designed based on literature’s review. It consisted of 4 sessions of 90 minutes (one per week), on-line (COVID-19), focused on caregivers burden, stress and self-care, communication skills, and self-compassion. All the caregivers of the patients admitted for IHT from 10/01/2020 to 06/01/2021 were offered the BGI 1.0. At the end of the intervention, participants (caregivers and therapists) were asked about their opinion on its contents and usefulness.

A total of 31 caregivers received the BGI 1.0. Most of them felt satisfied with the intervention. Opinions varied as to which contents should be expanded or included. The therapists thought that the number of sessions should be increased to take a closer look at some contents or to include new ones. They also believed that the on-line format hindered the adherence and the interaction between the participants.

The BGI 1.0 seems to be a good starting point to design the final version of the intervention. However, an exhaustive assessment of the construct of burden in a larger sample of caregivers should be performed prior to its design.

Resilience has been described as an individual’s ability to adjust or adapt to significant adverse or traumatic circumstances.

The aims of this study were to assess the resilience of caregivers of patients with mental disorders and to identify its associated factors.

We conducted a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study among caregivers of patients followed in the outpatient psychiatry department at the university hospital of Sfax(Tunisia), during septembre 2021. Resilience was assessed using Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale(CD‑RISC).The total scores range from zero to 100. The cut-off scores for this questionnaire is 50, with higher score indicating higher resilience.

Our sample included 34 family caregivers. The mean age was 47.47 years (SD=12.4 years)and the sex ratio (M/F) was 1.42. They were the parents of patients in 35.3% of cases. The mean duration of providing care to patients was 8.62 years. The mean resilience score of caregivers was 42.85 and 26.5% of them were resilients. The Caregivers with low socioeconomic level (p=0.004), a history of chronic illness (p=0.0001), a long duration of providing care (p=0.001), a stressful events (0.002) and those victims of agressive behaviors committed by patients (p=0.0001) were more likely to have a low resilience score.

Our results stated that three out four cargivers have low level of resilience. Interventions targeting stress related to social events and burden of care, and violence committed by patients in their family environment should be integrated to increase the caregivers’resilience.

Over the past decades, a growing body of evidence has demonstrated the impact of the psychosocial work environment on workers’ health, safety and wellbeing. These factors may also affect employees ’job satisfaction.

To explore psychosocial determinants of job satisfaction among workers in a Tunisian electricity and gas company.

A cross-sectional survey was conducted among male workers in a Tunisian electricity and gas company. The Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ), the Job Content Questionnaire and the general health questionnaire (GHQ12) were used to assess psychosocial risk factors at work. A principal component analysis (PCA) was used to assess correlations between instruments ’scores. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to explore the specific factors associated with job satisfaction. Data were analysed using R software.

A total of 83 workers participated in the survey (the age range: 21-60 years). Job satisfaction score varied from 0 to 100% with a mean of 73.09 %. In the PCA, job satisfaction had a positive correlation with high social support and a negative one with work-family conflicts, a high psychological demand, stress, burnout and quantitative demands. In multivariate analysis, factors negatively associated with job satisfaction were: age, stress and low social support. In contrast, seniority was positively associated with job satisfaction.

Job satisfaction is deeply influenced by the psychosocial work environment. Therefore, it is necessary to provide supervision, communication, and social support for these workers to increase or maintain a high level of job satisfaction.

About 3% of the general population suffers from Severe Mental Illness (SMI), including schizophrenia spectrum, bipolar and major depressive disorders. In this group, the rates of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome are approximately twice as high as the general population and the life expectancy is 13-30 years inferior compared to age and sex matched controls, greatly due to medical comorbidities. Low levels of physical activity (PA) and low fitness are likely to play a role.

To review the evidence about the effects of PA on physical health markers and psychiatric clinical symptoms of SMI patients.

We performed a literature review on the impact of exercise programs in physical and mental health of SMI patients using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases.

Several studies demonstrate that PA improves a variety of physical health markers in SMI patients, such as body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, body fat percentage, cardiorespiratory fitness, systolic blood pressure and HDL cholesterol. In parallel, there is evidence to support the benefit of PA in mental health, especially due to its effect on mood. Furthermore, PA promotes cognitive functioning, sleep quality, quality of life, self-esteem and fosters social interaction. Moreover, in patients with schizophrenia, exercise seems to decrease negative symptoms.

Implementation of regular physical activities in psychiatric wards should be considered whenever possible, due to its positive effects on physical and mental health. The adoption of structured exercise programs in psychiatric wards is feasible, safe, and well-received by patients.

Seligman, one of the founders of positive psychology, characterizes positive education as education aimed at acquiring happiness along with knowledge and skills (Seligman et al., 2009).

While university administration collects student’s feedback on various aspects of the educational process, it almost never asks students for their opinion on what can be done for their psychological well-being. The promotion of psychological well-being among young people is becoming an increasingly popular topic, and positive education is increasingly emerging within education. Positive education can be seen as a general sphere of positive psychology and advanced practice in education that aims the development of students for both academic achievement and psychological well-being. Special attention in positive education is paid to the use of empirically proven methods and programs aimed at improving well-being, engagement in educational activities, optimism, positive emotions, life satisfaction and other positive experience.

A particularly promising direction for the development of positive education can be the use of information and communication technologies to improve mental health and psychological well-being. The reported study was funded by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, project number 18-29-22049.
