Concerns about the body and food are present in much of the population. Furthermore, alteration in eating behavior as a symptom may be part of the symptomatology of various clinical profiles. And, of course, is the main symptom of eating disorders.

One of the features offered by these tables is the high comorbidity posing with axis I disorders and Axis II. According to the literature, about half of women with ED experience anxiety disorders. Regarding affective disorders, between 20 and 80% developed at least one major depressive episode during their lifetime. Personality disorders are highly prevalent in this population, mainly the cluster B and C, linking the first and second BN with AN.

The overall goal of this work is to analyze the comorbidity of these diagnosis.

Our research is a descriptive analysis of a sample of 30 patients from the USMC-Huelva with different diagnoses of eating disorders.

The results show that the majority of patients have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa purging type. These patients, mostly, have another disorder, highlighting dependence disorders and / or substance abuse, anxiety disorders and personality disorders. In the sample studied, three of the subjects required hospitalization in Mental Health, and of these, only one was due solely to own principal diagnosis criteria (malnutrition).

In last years, studies on the families of patients with eating disorders (ED) have tried to identify family needs, as well as to determine their coping strategies.

Forty relatives were evaluated (mean age=49.4 years, S.D.=6.7); 52% women and 48% men; 94.6% married. COPE scale (Carver et al., 1989) was used to measure individual coping strategies, and F-COPES scale (Olson and Larsen, 1987) was used to evaluate family coping strategies. Statistical analysis was realized using SPSS.19.

The relatives had higher scores in the following COPE subscales: planning, suppression of competing activities, active coping; they had lower scores in drug/alcohol intake, behavioral disengagement and denial. In F-COPES subscale the higher scores were in reframing and the lower ones in passive appraisal.

It of patients relatives faces their trying change, avoiding other activities or thoughts that distract them. As family, they identify the problems and try to handle them looking for support in nearby persons.

The management of non-linear and grey clinical data, so frequent in psychiatry, needs the development of new statistical tools, able to give value to subjectivity and complexity of the observed changes.

The department of Psychiatry at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Qatar, and guided by the national mental health plan, initiated a plan for suicide registry for the country.

Collect information on the patients presenting with self-harm and suicidal behaviors to the Emergency Department (ED), the primary emergency facility in Qatar.

Collection of data on the characteristics of the patients presenting to ED with intentional or accidental self-harm.

Retrospective chart review of all the cases presented to ED with self-harm, suicide attempts or committed suicide during the period between July 2011 and July 2012. Questionnaires were developed to collect the socio-demographic and clinical data available.

A total of 470 cases were identified (48 completed suicide, 165 admitted/suicide attempts, 105 intentional self-harm/not admitted and 152 accidental self harm). The majority of completed suicide were males, expatriates, in their mid 30s and died by hanging. In the admitted suicide attempters, the method was overdose; the male/female ratio was equal, mostly single, employed expatriates, and no past psychiatric diagnosis, substance abuse or previous suicide attempts. The majority of accidental self-harm were secondary to intake of high doses of non-opiate painkillers. Data on many variables were missing. More comparisons will be presented in relation to the demographics in Qatar.

The data suggest that the single male immigrants in Qatar should receive more support and more screening. More prospective data are needed with adequate collection of data to improve the quality of the registry and thus design better prevention programs.

Despite the high prevalence of obsessive-compulsive symptoms located around 2-3% of the population, there continue to be cases where the characteristics of the patient or the circumstances of their environment, they fall short queries mental health or when they do not for the disorder itself, but for another reason obsessional symptoms worsen.

The increased demand for assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders in adults has caused long delays in mental health services. There is currently no diagnostic tool available to assess the urgency of the autistic symptoms, preventing a prioritization in the waiting lists. Promising new instruments are the 80-item Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale-Revised, (RAADS-R)(Ritvo et al., 2010) and abridged forms of the 50-item Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ-10 and AQ-28).

To determine the ability of the RAADS-R and the abridged versions of the AQ to predict a clinical diagnosis of ASD in an adult outpatient population.

RAADS-R and abridged AQ versions will be completed by 250 normally intelligent adults, sequentially recruited from new referrals for ASD assessment in six outpatient settings in the Netherlands. Assessing clinicians are blind to the RAADS-R and AQ scores. At the end of the study, the clinical diagnosis (ASD or no ASD) will be related to the RAADS-R and AQ-scores collected prior to the assessments

At present 198 adults have been included in the study, as well as 50 normal controls. The average age is 39 years (SD 13.2), and 80% is male. In March 2014 we will be able to present preliminary data on the predictive values of the RAADS-R, the AQ-10 and the AQ-28.

The analysis of the limitations and difficulties in recruiting these people, and based on samples taken before employing them on the open market, gave birth to the concept of developing an innovative system to support candidates for employment.

Mental health education is not compulsory in the UK therefore adolescents have very varied experiences despite half of people with mental health illnesses reporting having experienced symptoms by 14 years old. University students are ideal for delivering a relaxed, educational intervention aimed at this age group, providing an opportunity to for them to learn necessary tools for recognising signs of poor mental health and tackle associated stigma.

To expand Headucate's membership, including other disciplines within the University of East Anglia (UEA) and provide core training enabling members to deliver a school-based educational intervention

Recruitment of members has been a multifaceted approach utilising social media sites such as Facebook and the Headucate website, and oncampus events and ‘awareness campaigns’ including several successful evening talks and lectures.

Three training sessions, which include ‘Introduction to Mental Health’, ‘Workshop run-through’ and ‘Child Protection’, have been developed for all members wishing to partake in the delivery of workshops.

We have recruited approximately 300 members since summer 2012; 70 fully paid members in 2012/13 academic year and currently 45 paid members for 2013/14.

A total of 18 members are fully trained and ready to deliver workshops within schools and 17 other members have just one training session remaining.

We are looking forward to delivering our first workshops in October and building on a successful first year. We are confident we can provide workshops for approximately 600 children per year.

Different psychosocial factors could serve as a predictor of drug addiction treatment outcome. However the interplay of those factors is still poorly understood and further research is needed. Attempts were made to improve outcomes of addiction treatment by addressing patient characteristics that predict continued drug use.

The purpose of the study was examination of the relationships that exist among hypothesised variables and outcome of hospital treatment of opioid dependence. Positive outcome was defined as abstinence of illicit drugs in the 28 days before review.

A group of 151 patients consecutively admitted to a closed detoxification unit between October 2011 and May 2013 were assessed. Data about age, gender, psychiatric disorders, sexual abuse, criminal activity, drug use after three months and i.v. drug use were collected. A multivariate logistic regression was used.

The results of multivariate logistic regression indicated that negative treatment outcome was associated with age of patients.

Our model showed that older patients had negative outcome more often. The further research is needed to find out if older patients have more drug related problems.

ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed behavioral disorder of childhood, and that it occurs in 3 to 5 percent of school-age children, this means that it affects a great part of the Egyptian population. The etiology of ADHD is unknown. Therefore understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of ADHD is a key and important challenge in psychiatry.

To investigate the relationship between the dopamine transporter gene (SLC6A3) 3’-UTR VNTR genotypes and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test in children with ADHD versus control, 50 children diagnosed with ADHD and 50 of control children were sequentially recruited, genotyped, and tested using neuropsychological tests.

There were significant differences in Total Category First Completed (TCFC) and categories completed indices of WCST results between cases and control. No significant difference in genotype of DAT 3’UTR VNTR genotypes was found between cases and control. The most common genotype among both ADHD cases and control was 9/10 while the least genotype was 9/9 among both groups. No significant genetic correlation and WCST indices in ADHD children.
