Summary

The reception of antiquity is an essential and crucial component of Greece’s nation building and paradoxically of its modernity. Inevitably the works of Nikos Kazantzakis and George Seferis partake in the broader discussion of the country’s linguistic, cultural, and political project that is the invention and elaboration of the modern Greek identity.
