About the editors

David B. Roberts is a Reader in International Security and Middle East Studies at King’s College London. He is also the Head of Professional Education and Enterprise in the King’s Institute for Applied Security Studies (KIASS) and leads a twin-track Arabic and English Master of Research (MRes) programme in the School of Security Studies. Otherwise, David is Adjunct Faculty at Science Po’s Paris School of International Affairs and a Non-Resident Fellow at the Arab Gulf States Institute Washington and the Middle East Policy Council. David's book, Security Politics in the Gulf Monarchies, was published by Columbia University Press in 2023. He obtained his PhD from Durham University.

Louise Fawcett is Professor of International Relations and Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Politics and International Relations, and Fellow of St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford.  She is also co-director of the Oxford Martin School programme, ‘Changing Global Order’. Louise is the author/editor of a number of publications, including Iran and the Cold War; Regionalism in World Politics; The Third World Since the Cold War; Regionalism in the Americas, and International Relations of the Middle East (6###sup/sup### edition).  She chairs the international advisory board of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), and is a member of the Editorial Board of International Affairs.

Dr Mohammed Abdel-Haq is a Professor in Banking and the Director of the Centre for Islamic Finance, the Director of the Centre for Opposition Studies and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Development at the University of Bolton.  He is also the Principal of Hume Institute for Postgraduate Studies, Lausanne, Switzerland; Affiliate Professor, Kings College London and an Associate at London School of Economics – IDEAS. Mohammed has a long career in banking in Citibank, Deutsche Bank, ABN AMRO and HSBC. He is also CEO of Oakstone Merchant Bank, London. Mohammed is co-author of a book on Islamic finance and wrote several articles and reports.  He is a Freeman of the City of Oxford and the City of London and has also been acknowledged in WHO’s WHO since 2013.
