Abbreviations

Primary sources are cited in the text following the standard abbreviations, as they appear in the Greek-English Lexicon by G. Liddell and R. Scott (LSJ, 9th Ed. 1940, Oxford: Clarendon Press). Every passage is referenced with its abbreviated title and the corresponding numeration according to the edition used, which can both be found in the Bibliography section. For the sake of clarity the edition is often also specified within the text.

All the quotations from the Hippocratic and the Galenic corpora are taken from the last available edition. For the abbreviations and English titles I followed Craik (2015) and Singer (2013), respectively. Both editions and abbreviations are detailed in the Bibliography.

Translations from all Greek and Latin sources are my own unless otherwise stated.
