Nano birds in the sky

Colorized and rotated scanning electron micrograph of cadmium oxide nanosheets deposited on a silicon substrate. Several nanosheets are agglomerated, and look like birds flying in the sky. The nanosheets are formed by a vapor-solid process using CdO powder as a source with Ar flow at an elevated temperature.
