Absorption of electromagnetic energy in human tissues is an important issuewith respect to the safety of low-level exposure. Simulation is a way to abetter understanding of electromagnetic dosimetry. This letter presents acomparison between results obtained from a numerical simulation andexperimental data of absorbed energy by a muscle. Simulation was done usinga bidimensional double-scale homogenization scheme leading to the effectivepermittivity tensor. Experimental measurements were performed at 10 GHz onbovine muscle, 30 hours after slaughter, thanks to the open-endedrectangular waveguide method. Results show a good agreement betweenmeasurements and simulated data.
