The Journal office has received several enquiries from readers as. to whether copies of Miss Charlotte Halliday's drawing of the exterior of Chandos House, reproduced in the June issue of News and Notes, could be made available. There are probably many other psychiatrists who would like to have this very attractive drawing of the first home of their College in a form suitable for framing, and it has therefore been decided, with the agreement of Miss Halliday and the Royal Society of Medicine, to offer copies 13¼ in. × 9¾ in., on antique laid paper, at a cost of 20p each, including postage and packing. Orders, enclosing remittance (cheques should be made out to the Royal College of Psychiatrists), should be sent to the Journal office, Royal College of Psychiatrists, Chandos House, 2 Queen Anne Street, London, W1M 9LE.

The Scottish Home and Health Department have informed the Regional Board that they are prepared to make capital monies available to the extent of £3½ million for new hospital development on the Cornhill Hospital Site, Aberdeen; building is to commence about 1978. Agreement has been reached with the Department that up to 600 bed places may be included in the development of this new hospital complex. Planning is now under way, the Board having set up a Professional Planning Committee to advise them on the form, content and detail of the project.

It was with much regret earlier this year that St. Thomas’ said farewell to Dr. William Sargant, for 24 years Physician in charge of the Department of Psychological Medicine. In his honour a dinner was held at the hospital, at which a large gathering of colleagues and past members of his staff were present, and an inscribed silver amada dish was presented to him from the hospital and staff.
