Abstract

Thermal stability of a novel rubbery ORMOSIL of condensed tetraethoxysilane(TEOS) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was investigated along with methodsby which to improve this stability. Based upon literature review of siloxanesystems, modifications of the base ORMOSIL system was made which includedsubstitution of polydimethyldiphenylsiloxane (PDMDPS) for PDMS, addingantioxidant, and adding iron compounds. Relative enhancement wasinvestigated in terms of resilience measurements, and was also analyzed withthermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal anaysis(DTA).
