The sidebands instability

Abstract

We study numerically the role of mode coupling mechanisms in the generation and growth of sideband modes, during the long time evolution of the nonlinear Landau damping of a large-amplitude wave. The results suggest that a rich variety of wave coupling mechanisms develops during the evolution of the system.
