Survey of losses associated with pregnancy and parturition in Yorkshire sheep

Data concerning a random sample of about 4% of the flocks in Yorkshire were collected in the form of answers to a questionnaire. The information required was given by 98% of the farmers in the sample.

The survey has shown the extent of losses associated with pregnancy and parturition in 1952–3 and the areas in which they were most severe; it has also given some indication of the factors that might be affecting losses of different kinds.

In addition to this information, the survey has provided statistics concerning feeding and husbandry and the relative importance of different breed types in Yorkshire.
