Abstract

The termite Macrotermes herus builds domed earth mounds with no external openings. The internal structure is described here. There is no specialized ventilation system in the mound, unlike those of other Macrotermes species.

Résumé

Le termite Macrotermes herus construit des termitières en forme de dôme, sans ouvertures extérieures. La structure intérieure est décrite. Il n'y à pas de système spécial de ventilation dans le nid, contrairement aux nids des autres espèces de Macrotermes etudiés.
