Gaining access to materials of public international law is more difficult than to materials relating to the national law of single states. The greatest part of the publications relating to the law of a particular state is published within this state. The duty to deliver a depository copy, which exists in many countries, makes the publications relating to the law of this country available in the national library (arranged alphabetically and by subject). In addition, there is frequently a printed national bibliography, which makes these publications readily available.

The movement for a civil law reform in Greece that was initiated in 1975 with the constitutional guarantee of equal rights and obligations of the sexes led to the adoption of Law 1329/1983 on the Application of the Constitutional Principle of Equality of the Sexes in the Civil Code and Its Introductory Law, in Commercial Legislation, and in the Code of Civil Procedure, as well as to Partial Modernization of Certain Provisions of the Civil Code Regarding Family Law.

The general protection of a child's interests and the prevention of child abuse are intertwined areas of concern for Swiss lawmakers. They have been thoroughly dealt with in both civil and criminal legislation.

Astreinte proceedings, a well known feature of the French law of civil procedure, has been recently introduced into the Belgian legal system. The introduction was brought about by statutory means, the Law of January 31, 1980, that actually introduced into Belgian law the provisions of a Benelux convention on astreinte to apply uniformly in Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. The provisions are based on those of the Dutch law rather than French law so that what is taken over from the French law relates mainly to the fundamental concept of astreinte and its name.
