However, examples of this scansion are sufficiently rare to invite some critical scrutiny when they do occur: cf. Virg. G. ii. 175 rēcludere (contrast Aen. vii. 617), Aen. xi. 140 rēplet, 380 rēplenda; Hor. C. iii. 34. 29 rēfrenare.
