Arthur Asa Berger is Professor Emeritus of Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts at San Francisco State University where he taught from 1965 until 2003. He has published more than one hundred articles and eighty books on popular culture, media, semiotics, and humor. Among his books on humor are Li’l Abner: A Study in American Satire, An Anatomy of Humor, The Art of Comedy Writing, Blind Men and Elephants, The Genius of the Jewish Joke, Jewish Jesters and Humor, Psyche and Society.
