During 2001, which was the fifteenth year of publication of the FTSE All-World Index series – previously known as the Financial Times-Actuaries World Index, and the FT/S&P Actuaries World Index – the major change was the implementation of long promised adjustments to reflect the available free floats of each constituent company's shares on 18 June 2001.

This is the twelfth year of publication of the FT/S&P Actuaries World Indices. Equity Indices are now given for 29 countries, 15 regional groups and the World. Greece, Portugal (and the Eurobloc) were added in 1998, but Malaysia was ejected.

This note marks 10 years of publication of the FT/S&P World Indices. Equity indices are given for 28 countries, 11 continental groups, and the whole world, covering the Developed World and an increasing number of those in Emerging Markets.

This is the eleventh year of publication of the FT/S&P World Indices. R.H. Pain's retirement is marked. Equity indices are given for 28 countries, 11 regional groups, and the World.

During 2000, which was the fourteenth year of publication of the World Index series, it was expanded to cover a further twenty countries, as it absorbed the Barings Emerging Markets series, becoming the All-World series. Preparations continued for the promised mid-2001 adjustments to reflect the available free floats of constituents' shares.

During 2002, which was the sixteenth year of publication of the FTSE All-World Index series — previously successively known as the Financial Times-Actuaries World Index, and the FT/S&P Actuaries World Index — there were no changes in the methodology of the construction of the series, and the main development in 2002 was probably the consolidation of the long promised adjustments to reflect the available free floats of each constituent company's shares on 18 June 2001.

1999 was the thirteenth year of publication of the World Index series. A change of name reflects the purchase by FTSE International of the stakes owned by Goldman Sachs & Co. and Standard & Poor's. No changes were made in the range of countries covered during the year, but it was agreed that from mid-2001 the series would be adjusted to reflect the available free floats of constituents' shares.
