Assessing Editors Vacancy
We are seeking new team members with an interest in academic publishing and with a documented background in social gerontology to join our editorial team. This new role offers valuable insight into the editorial processes of a leading journal and is ideal for those wanting to learn more about editorial roles. We believe this role would be ideally suited to early career researchers or others who may be interesting in having an entry-level editorial role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial screening of submitted manuscripts to assess fit with the journal’s scope and basic quality standards.
- Liaise with the editorial team regarding manuscripts that merit being sent out for the ad-hoc review process, and can therefore be assigned to one of our journal’s Associate Editors
- Assist with administrative tasks related to manuscript handling.
Participate in occasional editorial meetings to learn about journal strategy and operations.
(Please Note: This role does not involve managing the peer review process or making final publication decisions.)

Qualifications and Experience
- A postgraduate qualification or current research experience in social gerontology or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to assess academic writing at a high level.
- Good written communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Interest in academic publishing and willingness to learn editorial processes.
- Familiarity with online submission systems (e.g., ScholarOne) is helpful but not essential.
